1.) Donation Buttons - Google Checkout – Non-profit organizations who meet the Google Grants requirements you can enjoy fee free checkout and donations until 2010. Even if you do not qualify for a Google Grant they do offer pretty low fees for non-profits. PayPal – Paypal makes it easy for you to create a donation button to put on your website. Simply type in your requirements and they give you the HTML code. They do not charge monthly or setup fees, just a small per transaction fee that is reduced for non-profits and charities.
2.) Fundable.com – This website makes Online fundraising easy. Whether you are raising money from hundreds of supporters or just friends and family, Fundable lets you fundraise quickly and effectively. Try it out! Looks like fundable.com is no longer! They are suggesting http://www.kickstarter.com/ as a replacement.
3.) Facebook Causes – Facebook Causes empowers anyone with a good idea or passion for change to impact the world. Using our platform, individuals mobilize their network of friends to grow lasting social and political movements.
4.) WiZiQ – Offer an online classroom to inform people of who you are and what you do. Raise some additional funds by offering a free course with back-end donations or a flat up-front donation fee for the course. WiZiQ allows you to interact with your attendees online and will provide a recording of your session.
5.) Online Stores - CafePress and Zazzle allow you to create your own online store and promote your own custom products. Each item is produced in a print-on-demand fashion; payment, shipping and customer service are all handled by the company. All you have to do is create your designs, promote the products and cash you monthly check!
6.) EBay – There are three simple ways to raise funds through ebay.
a. Get certified through MissionFish and eBay sellers can donate a portion of their sales to your organization
b. Turn donated goods and services into cash
c. Hold an online fundraising auction

Holly,
Fundable.com has shut its doors over legal issues.

Holly,
Thanks for the ideas. Paypal and Google Checkout are extremely flexible and affordable.
Fundable is dead.
Causes is great if you can get data out of it but trying to create a big group is the first step. It has amazing potential.
Stay away from MissionFish and their 10% (!!!) transaction fee. Thats simply unethical.
As with anything, just because its free up front doesn’t mean that it won’t cost you in the end. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
Great points all - with one sad exception: Fundable.com appears to have closed its doors and there’s a bit of a nasty-gram as the landing page for that address.
Thanks for all your great comments! Fundable.com was still up and running when I posted this. I will make a note above. Thanks for the update!
The best tools for online donations are with Network for Good (Groundspring) or Just Give. They are the industry standards for nonprofit donation processing and charge a smaller fee than Google.
I would also HIGHLY recommend Stay Classy rather than Causes. Causes is a great application for now, but Stay Classy 3.0 is about to become the Facebook for nonprofits and philanthropy.
CollarFree is also a company that works with Zazzle and has a specific service for nonprofits/charities.

I think best way to receive online payments or donations is with Google Checkout. Google Checkout charges no fees to non-profits (see below from Google). Many donors like to make recurring (monthly, annualy, etc.), payments, which you can do with Google Checkout, it’s difficult to setup recurring donations on your own, but you can get it done for a reasonable fee at: http://www.altatechsolutions.com
From Google: “Non-profits who are part of the Google Grants program are eligible to receive free donation processing. Google Grants awards free AdWords advertising to non-profits who meet certain eligibility guidelines and integrates with Google Checkout to help you increase your online fundraising. If you’re not a Google Grants recipient, we strongly encourage you to apply.”
